What is fab?

A Floating Action Button (FAB) is a circular button that floats on top of the rest of your content denoting a prominent action.

FAB standard sizes with 6dp elevation.

Use only one fab per screen.

Also not every screen needs a FAB.

Promotes a single clear action on a screen e.g. for a Note App it can be used to indicate the action to be performed to create a new note.

What should be a fab?
